PASSWORD_POLICY_CHARACTER_SET_REQUIREMENTS

What this check finds

A password character set requirement helps ensure strong passwords are used by IAM Users. Setting a password policy does not impact existing users, so after setting this, you should ensure users reset their passwords so that they are in compliance.

Passing looks like: Password policy requires all character sets.

How to fix it

Enable all character set requirements on the password policy.

AWS CLI

  1. aws iam update-account-password-policy --require-uppercase-characters --require-lowercase-characters --require-symbols --require-numbers

Names in capitals are placeholders for your own resource. Review a command before you run it.

AWS console

IAM → Account settings → Edit password policy.

Compliance controls it is evidence for

A failing result counts against these controls in KloudLytics; a passing one is evidence towards them. How compliance mapping works

Checked on every scan

KloudLytics runs this check each time it scans a connected AWS account, through a read-only role, and lists every affected resource with its region. On Pro and Business a fix is written for the specific resource rather than the general case above. The exact access it needs
