KMS customer-managed key does not have automatic rotation enabled

What this check finds
Automatic annual key rotation limits the blast radius of a key compromise. Without rotation, a compromised key material can decrypt all data encrypted with it indefinitely. Rotation applies to customer-managed keys only; AWS-managed keys rotate automatically.
Passing looks like: KMS key automatic rotation enabled.
How to fix it
Enable automatic key rotation.
AWS CLI
aws kms enable-key-rotation --key-id KEY_ID
Names in capitals are placeholders for your own resource. Review a command before you run it.
AWS console
KMS → Customer managed keys → select key → Key rotation → Enable automatic key rotation.
Compliance controls it is evidence for
A failing result counts against these controls in KloudLytics; a passing one is evidence towards them. How compliance mapping works

Checked on every scan
KloudLytics runs this check each time it scans a connected AWS account, through a read-only role, and lists every affected resource with its region. On Pro and Business a fix is written for the specific resource rather than the general case above. The exact access it needs
